One of Sheffield's exclusive restaurants, once run by the Bosworth brothers, but now, sadly by only one.

It's an intimate type of place, with enough space between tables to allow a private meal experience and conversation.

At first glance, the menu sounds fantastic and you are sure to find something you've never tried before, or at the very least, something cooked in a new way. It's a little bit on the limited side in terms of options, but despite the fact that we comprise one vegetarian and one person who prefers not to eat red meat,

we found food to please us. Following good Yorkshire and culinary practice, local produce features heavily and the emphasis is on fresh, quality ingredients.

Rafters have a good bring your own wine policy, for a small corkage fee, so they get our vote on that, after all it means you can spend a little extra on their excellent food.

It would be a good choice for a special meal for two - careful how you pay mind, they only accept certain credit cards, though the staff are good at alerting you to this fact when you book.

** Please note, Rafters has changed ownership since this review was added and is now run by top chef proprietors Marcus Lane and Michael Sabin. They also accept a full range of credit cards.
