The dining evenings follow certain themes, so there should be something to suit all tastes. Spice Dines Round the World takes diners to restaurants that offer cuisine from around the world. In Sheffield, this has included Lebanese, Persian, Chinese, Indian, Turkish, Spanish, English and Scottish, to name just a few. For a more casual dining experience, the Spice Curry Club meets from 8pm onwards in a pub and then moves onto a restaurant for 9pm. The pub meet up is optional, so anyone that just wants to eat can join at the restaurant and it also makes it an ideal way to enjoy a meal with friends if you've finished work a bit late. Curry Club meals usually offer a selection of starters and main courses, plus accompaniments and poppadoms, but skip the dessert. The aim is to keep it a good cheap night out, unless the group try a special restaurant, which they do every so often. Dining with a group of people can be a great way to make new friends and to facilitate this process for those who are interested, Spice Dinner Shuffles are a fun way to get around the group. Members select three cards when they arrive, which indicates their seats for the evening and they simply change seats for each course, thus getting to meet as many group members as possible. About once every 6 months, Spice go one better than this and offer a Meal Safari where members actually move restaurants between each course! The timing is critical, so it's good to know that members can relax and enjoy it, whilst one of the Spice coordinators keeps things moving. For the ultimate in sophistication, Spice Dinner Parties select the top restaurants in the area and on behalf of members negotiate a price for an up market meal for about 16 - 20 people. This creates a smaller and more intimate atmosphere in which to enjoy the delicious food from top restaurants in Sheffield and throughout Yorkshire. Spice is not just dining though and members can get an awful lot more from the club than this. Spice stands for Special Programme of Initiative Challenge or Excitement and it was set up to cater for members who are ordinary everyday people.... but want to do extraordinary things in their spare time. The kaleidoscope of extraordinary things includes white water rafting, fire eating, abseiling, trapeze and many, many more things, not to mention activities with a bit more terra firma assured, such as theatre evenings and wine tastings. All the adventure activities are led by special instructors, so members are always in capable hands. There are well over 1,500 'Spicers' in Yorkshire and numbers are growing each month, as more and more people find out how much fun it is to join in the events and meet people they wouldn't have come across otherwise. Members come from all walks of life and professions, both singles and couples. You can be any age to join, although there is a minimum age of 18. There are no hard and fast rules and members chose to dip in and out of events as they wish, there are no minimum or maximum participation requirements.
