Buon Deli at the top of Glossop Road has to be the best casual dining Italian on the West Side. Vince's Wonder.

A wide variety of antipasti with ciabatta makes a great starter for sharing, and is just enough in view of the generous main courses. The range covers daily specials made with seasonal produce, pizzas, pastas which are a world away from the standard chain resto lists, such as Lobster ravioli, and superb main course salads.

Our family don't much do puds, but they have real, proper, Italian cake things, as well as cream and ice-cream topped 'don't wear your spray-on-jeans' type desserts. Coffee is excellent.

The wine list is unusual, mainly Italian, and very reasonably priced.

The only reason I'm reluctant to recommend it is because it'll get too popular, and then I won't be able to just pop in and find a table (Philippe Starck tables at that!)

Forgot to say, service and decor are both spot on. They also sell the food and drink from the Deli at the rear, so you can carry on at home....
